Freshman guide
Dear Students of the Academy of Music University of Zagreb,
We have prepared an overview of the most important information to help you successfully navigate the beginning of your studies.
Welcome!
To make the first year of studies easier for freshmen, we organize an introductory lecture every year called "Freshmen Forum.".
The date and time of the Forum will be announced on our website.
Stay updated with announcements, and see you soon!
Access to the Academy of Music building and practice rooms is granted via a key card. Student cards are issued by the Student Affairs Office, Staff cards are issued by the IT Support.
If you are a student of vocal or instrumental studies, your card will also allow you to enter the classroom where your individual lessons take place.
You can collect your key card or report a lost card at the Student affairs office.
A replacement card costs 7 EUR, so it is best to keep your card safe to avoid additional expenses.
AAI@EduHr is an authentication and authorization system for science and higher education in the Republic of Croatia. Its primary purpose is to enable secure, reliable, and efficient management of electronic identities and their use for accessing online and network-based resources. Members of the academic and research community receive their AAI@EduHr identity—a username and password—at their home institution.
When you enroll in a study program at the Academy of Music University of Zagreb, you will also receive your AAI@EduHr identity.
Your electronic identity assigned by the Academy of Music follows this format: first letter of first name, family name, @muza.hr (e.g., ihorvat@muza.hr).@muza.hr (npr. ihorvat@muza.hr)
AAI@muza.hr identity can be used to access:
Eduroam wireless network (Academy WIFI)
A password reset costs 7 EUR, so it is recommended that you write down your password and store it in a safe place to avoid additional costs.
Although it may look like an email address, your AAI@EduHr account is not an email address. If you need an email address with the muza.unizg.hr domain, you can request one from the IT Support Office by sending an email to info@muza.hr. Please include the reason why you need the email address in your request.
You can find the class schedule here.
The schedule can be searched by professor, course, classroom, department, and year of study using the CTRL + F command.
The group class schedule by classroom (pages 4–16) includes all mandatory and elective group courses and is intended for both teachers and students of the Academy of Music.
The group class schedule by department and study program (pages 17–62) includes group courses (mandatory courses and large-group electives) and is primarily designed to help students navigate their choices before selecting electives. The schedule for other elective courses can be found in the classroom-based schedule.
- Related study programs are grouped on the same page in the department-based schedule. It is important to pay attention to the exact course title and level (A, B, C). For courses with the same name, abbreviations indicating study specializations can be found on page 2 of this document.
- For courses written in italics, students of the specified study program and year can choose which group to attend in agreement with the course professor. The number of students in different groups of the same course should be evenly distributed, so the instructor may assign students to specific time slots.
- Professors Jelaska and Matoš hold their classes in bi-weekly double sessions. For further information about the start of these classes, please follow the announcements and contact the professors directly.
The schedule for individual lessons, chamber music, and accompaniment is arranged at the beginning of the academic year. The timetable only indicates the time slots during which a professor is using a specific classroom (pp. 63–120).
If certain courses are missing from the document, their schedule is either: arranged later at the beginning of the academic year, not yet determined, or not offered in the current academic year. For further details, please contact the Student affairs office, check course announcements on the Academy of Music website, or follow updates via Merlin (e-learning, automatic email notifications).
For any additional inquiries or necessary schedule corrections, please contact the schedule coordinator via email at raspored@muza.hr or ivorprajdic@gmail.com.
Merlin is a virtual environment for e-learning in higher education, designed to facilitate the exchange of information between professors and students, as well as among students themselves. Through Merlin, professors can share teaching materials, assign tasks, track and collect student work, and provide feedback enhancing and improving the learning process.
Logging into the Merlin system is mandatory for all students.
You need to log into the system using your AAI@EduHr identity before the start of each academic year, no later than September 25th.
During your first login to the system, make sure to enter your personal email address that you regularly use, so you won’t miss any important notifications posted on Merlin.
Your professors will inform you on how to use the system for specific e-courses in due time. Don’t worry if you don’t see all your courses in Merlin, as not all courses have their e-course.
All study-related announcements will be posted in the REFERADA e-course.
