VIVAT ACADEMIA

The Vivat Academia concert series is conceived as an interaction between professors and students, with the aim of presenting to the audience the full diversity of musical expressions taught at the Academy of Music through unconventional, innovative music programs.

VIVANT PROFESSORES

The Vivant Professores concert series showcases the artistic quality and excellence of the professors at the Music Academy who are among some of Croatia's best musicians and artists. Placing professors in the role of performers aims to encourage learning by example and demonstrate the application of what is discussed in class. At the same time, being exposed to the critique of their students serves as a reminder to professors that learning never ends.

ANABASIS

The Anabasis is an organ concert series that takes place in the Václav Huml Hall, which houses the Eisenbarth organ. It began as a collaboration between the Music Academy and the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Zagreb, involving students from the Music Academy and the Institute for Church Music "Albe Vidaković." Anabasis features eight thematically designed concerts that present organ literature in an interdisciplinary manner, harmonizing words, images, and sounds. The concert themes encompass various stylistic periods and explore different aspects of the understanding of music throughout history. The Academy's hall space also allows for the presentation of the more secular side of the organ, an instrument that inherently carries the connotation of sacredness. Alongside the Eisenbarth organs, students also perform on a positive organ built in the Heferer Workshop.

VIRTUOSO

Virtuoso is a student concert series at the Academy of Music, founded in 2001. The initial concerts focused on the piano works of famous composers such as Chopin and Liszt, but over time, the series expanded to include all stylistic periods, providing an opportunity for the best students from the Academy’s performance departments to present themselves to the Zagreb audience. The idea was conceived by pianist Ivan Škreblin during a conversation with Jurica and Maria Šoša, current professors at the Academy, and was realized through organizational collaboration with Krešimir Mihelić. From the very beginning, Virtuoso has been entirely student-run, making it particularly valuable and special. It is now part of the Young Musicians' Organization. Each new season broadens the concert themes to integrate all departments at the Academy while continuing to nurture traditional themes that have been a hallmark since its inception. Virtuoso plays a vital role in the artistic development of young musicians, offering them performance experience and the opportunity to refine their professional skills while fostering mutual academic support between students and professors.
