(1) The Academic Council is the professional body of the Academy responsible for matters concerning artistic, scientific, teaching, and professional activities.

(2) The Academic Council performs duties defined by the Law and the Statute of the University, in particular:

1. adopts the Statute, the Study Regulations, the Implementation Plan for Teaching, and other general acts

2. makes decisions on teaching, scientific, and professional matters

3. adopts the mission and development strategy

4. approves the proposal of the part of the program agreement that pertains to the Academy

5. adopts the financial plan

6. accepts the final financial report

7. grants approval to the Dean to undertake legal actions on behalf of and for the account of the Academy in the amount exceeding EUR 200,000.00 and up to EUR 600,000.00

8. confirms the Dean’s proposal to the Senate for legal actions exceeding EUR 600,000.00

9. carries out the procedure for the election and dismissal of the Dean

10. carries out the procedure for the appointment and dismissal of Vice-Deans

11. elects members of the relevant area council

12. adopts additional criteria for appointment and reappointment to artistic-teaching, scientific-teaching, teaching, associate, and professional positions

13. conducts appointments and reappointments to artistic-teaching, scientific-teaching, teaching, associate, and professional positions

14. proposes to the Senate the number of student enrolment places for each study program of the Academy

15. carries out appointments and reappointments of honorary lecturers

16. awards the honorary title of Professor Emeritus to employees of the Academy

17. adopts the Dean's annual reports

18. gives approval to the Dean regarding the internal organization of work positions

19. initiates the procedure for adopting and monitors the implementation of study programs

20. appoints mentors for assistants, and supervisors and mentors for students in study programs

21. appoints committees for the process of obtaining doctoral degrees, approves doctoral thesis topics, and decides on the reports of the committees on those theses

22. approves concert programs of public performances by students in postgraduate and lifelong learning program

23. decides on the admission of students to study programs

24. establishes permanent and temporary expert committees and working groups upon the proposal of the Dean

25. performs other duties as determined by the Law, the Statute of the University, this Statute, and other general acts of the Academy.

(3) The permanent committees of the Academic Council are:

1. Committee for Quality Assurance

2. Committee for Artistic Activity

3. Committee for Publishing Activit

4. Library Committee

5. Committee for Postgraduate Studies and Lifelong Learning Programs.

(4) In the decision to establish a committee, the Academic Council determines the number of members, and the scope of work of the committee, and appoints its members.

(5) The Academic Council may also establish other committees as needed
