Submission of the final exam

The head of the department informs the vice dean for academic affairs of the scheduled exam dates as soon as possible,providing the following details: candidate’s full name, department / study program, concert program and/or final exam topic, mentor(s), committee members, location and time of the final exam thesis defense. 

The final exam concert and thesis defense must be registered via email atreferada@muza.unizg.hrat least 15 days before the scheduled defense date. 

Electronic application requirements: 

  1. Student’s full name, department, main subject, and mentor’s name
  2. Completed Form for storing recordings of the final exam concert (for performers only)
  3. List of coursework completed during studies, signed by the professor (for performers only) – for all years of study
  4. Exam repertoire for the final exam, signed by the professor (for performers only)
  5. Email address for receiving notifications about the graduation ceremony

The completed final exam thesismust be emailed to the mentor and the head of the department no later than 15 days before the scheduled thesis defense date. The head of the department will forward the thesis to the members of the examination committee. 

Defenses of written master's thesesmay take place in the building of the Academy of Music either immediately before or after the graduation concert or, for a justified reason, remotely, as decided by the mentor and the head of the department in consultation with the candidate. 

Obligations of graduates 

By the day of taking the final part of the graduation examination, the student must:  

  • settle all financial and material obligations towards the Academy, as well as any outstanding library loans at the Academy library
  • check on Studomat whether the grades for all passed courses (except for the main subject and the course Final exam or Master's Thesis) have been recordedif they have not, the student must contact the course professor promptly and request that the grade be entered. The grades for all passed examinations must be recorded in the ISVU system before the day of the final part of the graduation examination.
  • bring a printout of their grades from the ISVU system to the final part of the graduation examination.

We remind students that they cannot proceed with the final exam if they have not passed the exams for all enrolled courses, except for the main subject and the final exam or final exam thesis, and if they have not completed the listed obligations. 

Before the defense, the authenticity of all written theses will be checked using the Turnitin software. If plagiarism is detected, the opinion of the Ethical Committee of the Academy of Music will be sought regarding possible further actions. 

 

Instructions for creating the final exam concert program 

The final exam program, along with the student's name, main subject, time, date, and location of the exam, should also include the following information:

  • the initials (of all) names and surnames of the composers(e.g., J. S. Bach) in the original form or in the Croatian variant (e.g., Čajkovski, not Tchaikovsky)
  • the full and correct title of the composition, translated into Croatian if possible (npr. Sonata u d-molu op. 31 br. 2) not Sonate, Koncert, Concert etc., including other details that describe it more precisely, such as opus number, number, key, etc.
  • if the composition consists of multiple movements, list the titles of the movements. If a specific movement is being performed, mark it (e.g., I. Allegro molto, Allegro, Presto)
  •  the name and surname of the artistic collaborator and the main subject professor

Submission of the final exam thesis to the digital repository

Within one month or five working days before the graduation ceremony (whichever comes first), the student must revise the thesis according to the instructions of the examination committee and resend it to the head of the department and the mentor. The final version (PDF) must be attached along with the completed Form for submitting the graded thesis and the declaration of its storage in the DABAR digital repository (Digital Repository of the Academy of Music)It is also possible to submit supplementary materials – PDFs, audio, or video recordings. The form is accessed through the e-identity AAI@EduHr (the same login details as for Studomat – check the profile in the upper right corner!).

Graduates of departments 1, 2, and 3 (conducting) and department 8 (music pedagogy) must submit one printed, hardcover copy of their final exam thesis to the Academy of Music library along with the completed form.

Final exam concerts are recorded, and the recordings are stored in the Digital Repository of the Academy of Music (DABAR). The department heads are responsible for the recordings. Private recordings will not be stored in the repository.
