Networks and projects
Muzička akademija Sveučilišta u Zagrebu članica je više međunarodnih mreža i sudjeluje u međunarodnim projektima. Od veljače 2021. godine Muzička akademija je uz AEC – kao jedna od devet europskih muzičkih akademija – sudjelovala u međunarodnom projektu Power Relations in Higher Music Education – PRiHMEAcademy of Music University of Zagreb is a member of several international networks and participates in international projects. From February 2021, the Academy of Music, together with the AEC - as one of nine European music academies - participated in the international project Power Relations in Higher Music Education - PRiHME, which took place through the Erasmus+ strategic partnership program. At the center of the project was the so far rarely addressed topic of complex power relations, (often) hidden hierarchies and consequent inequalities that are reflected in various aspects of institutional culture, interpersonal relations and everyday practices in institutions of higher education music education. The project was based on the basic idea of open and participatory discussions on certain aspects of the central theme, in which representatives of students, teachers and management and administrative bodies of each of the academies that are members of the project participated equally with their experiences, thoughts and ideas. These discussions, as a kind of forums modeled after the so-called citizens' assembly relied on successful forms of participatory democracy in which the key role in decision-making is played by those directly affected by the topics under discussion. Instead of discussions about power relations taking place (exclusively) at the highest levels, and decisions being made and imposed from above, this form of work, in other words, opens up space for a broader understanding of the different perspectives and experiences of individuals and groups that make up our institutions. The project ended in August 2023, with the PRiHME final recommendations
