Percussion Ensemble
The percussion ensemble biNg bang was founded in 1999 under the artistic direction of Igor Lešnik. The ensemble's members are Croatia's finest percussion students and winners of numerous percussion competitions. In addition to the standard percussion ensemble repertoire, biNg bang frequently premieres works by Croatian composers. The list of guest soloists includes renowned names such as Ney Rosauro, Jean Geoffroy, John Beck, Michael Udow, Payton MacDonald, Fernando Hashimoto, Angel Frette, Ludwig Albert, and Arthur Lipner. biNg bang has received numerous awards and accolades, including first place at the 2004 Percussion Ensemble Competition organized by the Percussion Art Society, invitations to perform at the society's convention in Nashville as the best university percussion ensemble, and at the Third International Marimba Competition in Belgium as an official ensemble. Additionally, the ensemble won the European Music Festival for Young People (EMJ) in Neerpelt in 2009 and received Rector’s Awards for the academic years 2004/2005 and 2008/2009. The ensemble performs worldwide and participates in percussion festivals such as Perkumania in Paris, Crossdrumming in Warsaw, Percussion Nights in Graz, Percussion Days in Valencia, the Patagonian Percussion Festival in Argentina, the Taiwan International Percussion Convention in Taipei, and the International Percussion Festival in Puerto Rico. Their debut album, biNg bang Plays Lešnik, was released under the American label Equilibrium. The ensemble's director for the 2024/2025 academic year is Professor Marko Mihajlović.
