The Student Ensemble of the Academy of Music for New Music (abbreviated as ASMANGu) began its activities in the 2016/2017 academic year as part of the elective module New Music. Its goal is to organize three concerts annually, introducing its members to new musical worlds of the 20th and 21st centuries. So far, this flexible ensemble has performed a variety of programs, ranging from Debussy, Berg, and Webern to distinguished 20th-century new music composers such as Berio, Xenakis, and Ligeti, as well as contemporary works. Special emphasis is placed on the works of Croatian composers, including pieces by composition students from academies in Zagreb and Ljubljana. Among their many successful performances, their appearances at the Zagreb Music Biennale and the Milko Kelemen Days in Slatina are particularly noteworthy. The ensemble's director for the 2024/2025 academic year is Prof. Ivan Josip Skender.
